Real Time Software Engineer Engineering Development Manager

 

SUMMARY: The Real Time Software Engineer will develop software and algorithms for a real time positioning system. The candidate should have experience with multi-sensor systems to be able to partake in systems engineering and integration tasks. This position also requires some travel to interact directly with OEM customers on system requirements and implementation.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •          Develop software for multi-sensor mapping system
  •          Implementation various navigation algorithms & testing – tuning of system performance
  •          Integration of various sensors including GNSS, Inertial, Optical and others
  •          System level testing, in-field testing and debugging
  •          Working closely with product managers to refine requirements
  •          Design documentation
  •          Participate in product life cycle development
  •          Travel to meet OEM customers to understand requirements, discuss implementation option

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  •          Bachelor’s Degree or Higher – in Computer Science of Engineering
  •          Expertise in C++ and Formal knowledge of Real-Time systems
  •          5+ years of Experience in system level integration or C programming
  •          Experience with GNSS & Inertial and positioning systems is a strong asset

SUMMARY:

The incumbent is responsible for coordinating, managing, and executing all sales activity and strategies for the Applanix Land and Air Product Portfolios to the defined market segments outlined in the business LRPs (Long Range Plans) in the region defined as Asia Pacific with a focus on Main Land China, Hong Kong and Japan. Strategies will be communicated and coordinated with the business director, product manager, to include product mix/portfolio, pricing, distribution, advertising and sales promotion and recommendations for Land and Air.  Sales are determined by executing both direct sales and managing existing and recommending new channel network opportunities. The role will demand a commitment to providing exceptional business-to-customer communication, Channel Development, and sales service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates with the Director of Sales and Business Director in establishing and recommending the most realistic sales goals for the company in the region defined.
  • Establishes regional sales strategies for Land and Air Products through the strategic development of Regional Channel Partners. Works with the
  • Technical Sales Lead in Asia to develop a sales plan focused on short term and long term grown opportunities of each business. Sales
  • Strategies are expected to remain in line with the regional business plans and determine the objectives for product distribution, how new customers and business will be developed, and provides insights to new product developments.
  • Educates new and existing reseller channels by establishing programs/seminars in the areas of new account sales and growth, sales of emerging products and multi-product sales, profitability, improved presentation strategies and competitive strategies.
  • Manages existing Channel Partners by holding them accountable to their business plans and regional forecasts.
  • Represents the Applanix/Trimble organization in external business relationships with channel partners, distribution and customers so that the strategic messaging is communicated clearly.
  • This position is accountable for Regional Sales targets defined in the annual sales forecast to the Applanix Sales Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 10 years regional sales and industry management experience preferably in the Geospatial Sector.

Technical Sales Support Engineer BD Director, Marine Products

 

SUMMARY:

Requires a tenacious, self-started individual, who is willing and able to see problems through to their resolution; whether this means a few minutes of hand-holding, or an in-depth investigation. The employee will work with the client to ensure that problems are resolved, bringing them to the attention of the Director, Marine Products as necessary, and ensuring that the loop is closed back to the customer. 

The Technical Sales Support Engineer will report to the Director, Marine Products, but will work closely in conjunction with Sales and Support staff in Houston, the UK, and Richmond Hill. 

In conjunction with other UK-based staff and the support engineers in Houston and Richmond Hill, the Technical Sales Support Engineer will be expected to provide 24-hour support to Applanix customers. This will require the employee to carry a mobile phone at all times. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Product Support – Office Based
    • Office – based product support will require support of the complete range of Applanix Products (mainly for marine customers, but also for other products as required) to include and not to be limited:
    • Provide prompt, proficient, courteous and high caliber technical advice by telephone and email.
    • Basic testing, repair, and refurbishment of all Applanix products.
    • Implementation of factory – supplied software and firmware fixes.
  • Product Support – In Field
    • In Field product support will consist of:
    • Support to value-added and regional resellers, providing “train the trainer” course to ensure such entities can provide high-quality first-line support.
    • Operations support.
    • New system installations and setting to work.
    • Infield customer training.
    • General problem solving and faultfinding.
    • Applanix product trail/ development support.
    • Sales demonstrations.
    • Travel will be as required (approximately 33%)
  • Sales Support
    • The Technical Sales Support Engineer role as described above will require some interfacing with clients on commercial matters. Due to the nature of the position, this role will also require spares sales (inside sales) as well as some external sales support either with other Applanix employees or independently.
  • Development Support
    • This position will be a vital one in gathering feedback from customers, resellers and third-party vendors to enable future developments of Applanix Marine products in line with market requirements. As such, the Technical Sales Support Engineer will work closely with the Director, Marine Products to refine and document such requirements for presentation to the Engineering department.
  • General Duties
    • This position requires a great deal of flexibility. Applanix UK is a small entity, and all employees are required to assist in areas beyond their individual expertise. The UK based Customer Support Engineer (as with all other UK based employees) will be required to receive shipments, pack an dispatch shipments and maintain accurate logs of all transactions, as well as other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Engineering degree in Geomatics or equivalent
  • IHO CAT A Accreditation
  • Knowledge and practical experience in geodetic GPS applications
  • Hydrographic surveying background
  • Solid background using Personal Computers
  • Electronic troubleshooting and repair
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-growing and changing the environment
  • Self-motivated, and able to work independently
