Mobile Mapping is a proven method of acquiring and characterizing information vital for infrastructure management. No matter what the goal - acquiring video log data for right-of-way and pavement condition analysis, property assessment, electric pole inventories, street/trackside asset management projects to satisfy government regulations - mobile mapping is the single most cost efficient way to obtain quality civil infrastructure GIS data.
The Applanix LandMark is the industry’s first COTS Mobile Mapping solution designed to increase productivity for both data acquisition companies and end users in the collection of quality infrastructure data. The system integrates a digital camera with a POS LV positioning system, data acquisition and processing software and industrial computers for the optimal collection of customized data. The system is designed to give officials robust information on all assets in their inventory to maximize the value of their investment in GIS as a decision making tool. Applanix LandMark is a turn-key solution providing immediate return on investment by doubling productivity and virtually eliminating expensive data re-acquisition costs.

1. Data Acquisition
GeoImage RT software sychronizes position & orientation data with digital imagery in real-time.
2. Post Processing
Highest accuracy levels are achived by post-processing with POSPac LAND.
3. GEOImage Extraction
User can view and document features of interest in the digital video imagery, either manually or automatically if surveyd with LIDAR.
4. GIS Database
Accurately positioned data can be output to a number of formates directly to a GIS database. |

Mapping and characterizing an asset typically takes 120 seconds, but using the Applanix LandMark will ensure the process takes less than 40 seconds. The operator provides an additional QA/QC function, and triples productivity.
Just as important, with POS LV at the heart of the LandMark solution, the need for data reacquisition even in the most adverse GPS environments is virtually eliminated which drastically increases crew utilization rates and allows operators to map vast distances reliably. The POS LV also ensures sub-meter accuracy, even during extended GPS outages and decimeter results with post processing..
Overall, the Applanix LandMark system and workflow are unrivaled in productivity, safety and results. |
