Applanix Unveils New Software for Locating and Measuring Objects in 3D

INTERGEO 2008 – Applanix today introduced GEOImage 360, an all-new software solution designed for locating and measuring objects in 3D. With Applanix LANDMark, a complete land-vehicle based Mobile Mapping solution which fully combines GNSS/inertial with laser scanning and imaging technologies, GEOImage enables users to quickly and accurately determine precise geographical coordinates of targets even in very difficult GPS conditions within the entire 360 degree georeferenced imagery.

The GEOImage software controls system hardware, synchronizes data from the Applanix POS LV (position and orientation system for land-based vehicles), cameras and optional lasers, and ensures data accuracy for image processing.

The Exterior Orientation (namely position and orientation parameters) is computed for each image collected by the sensors with respect to a specified mapping frame using POSPac MMS. Objects or other features of interest can be accurately located and measured anywhere within the entire 360 degree field of view of the cameras. POSPac MMS is then used to produce 360 degree post processed georeferenced data.

Designed for applications such as collecting features and targets for infrastructure mapping and rapid response applications, GEOImage provides the operator with a view of both street level imagery and any available overhead imagery of a particular point of interest through a single screen.
