October 1, 2008 Applanix Delivers Airborne and Land-Based Mobile Mapping Solutions to Limitless LLC for Arabian Canal Project INTERGEO 2008 – Applanix announced today it has delivered its DSS™ and LANDMark™ Mobile Mapping Solutions to Limitless LLC, Dubai, for earth works monitoring of the Arabian Canal project – a massive project which includes the construction of a 75 kilometer waterway in Dubai along with the development of the surrounding 10,000 hectares of real estate.  DSS is a complete ready-to-use medium-format digital aerial imaging solution that includes the fusion of a 39 megapixel aerial camera, a flight management system, a GNSS-Aided INS Direct Georeferencing system and a full suite of processing software.  Rugged and lightweight for use even under adverse conditions, DSS is purpose built for the airborne environment. Components have been custom-designed and engineered to tightly integrate all of the enabling technologies that make up the system. Limitless will use the Applanix DSS with a LIDAR option, making it an ideal solution for low-altitude corridor mapping applications.  The DSS with LIDAR produces directly georeferenced high-resolution orthomosaic color image maps and high-accuracy 3D terrain measurements in the form of laser point clouds and digital surface models. Similarly, the Applanix LANDMark solution produces georeferenced high-density laser point clouds and oblique video imagery, but it operates on the roof of a moving 4-wheel drive land vehicle. Introduced in January 2008, LANDMark integrates hardware and software in a comprehensive bundle that includes LIDAR technology with an Applanix derived processing workflow, a digital camera or cameras, industrial computers and proprietary real time operating, image processing, feature extraction and post-processing software. LANDMark is easily customized as application needs grow and can easily be moved between vehicles.
