Applanix Releases Image View 3.0, the Latest Software Upgrade for its DSS Digital Sensor System

RICHMOND HILL, ONTARIO – Applanix announced today the release of Image View 3.0 software, the latest upgrade specifically designed for use with its industry-leading DSS Digital Sensor System. The new software incorporates an extensive toolset designed to maximize the DSS system’s capabilities in generating high-quality, georeferenced color and color infrared (CIR) digital imagery for the aerial survey and remote sensing industry.

Image View software processes raw digital camera data to produce full-resolution or sub-sampled data sets for direct input into the user’s standard mapping software. The new release includes a number of system-specific enhancements to emphasize the suitability of the DSS for aerial image acquisition. These include a built-in functionality to automatically correct for radiometric lens falloff and a calibration tool to compensate for image-to-image intensity differences, features designed to further improve the image quality of ortho-rectified mosaics.

In commenting on the latest release Joseph Kosofsky, Applanix Image Analyst, explained, "We are continually striving to provide our customers with the best and most current tools available. The Image View software is designed with some very exciting processing techniques in mind, simplified for easy use and fast application. For instance, the batch development function now allows channel sharpening for crisper edges when generating visually enhanced map products. The software also supports optimized 8bit output for producing mission-wide, non-linear map data. In addition, we have included disk management tools to run quality control checks on the systems mission drive, streamlining airborne operations by ensuring the on-board equipment remains error-free."
