Applanix Expands its Presence in Europe with the Introduction of Imaging Technology from Pictometry

RICHMOND HILL, ONTARIO – Applanix announced today that one of Europe’s leading geospatial organizations has chosen its POS AV 310 system as the geopositioning technology behind their purchase of Pictometry’s imaging/software system.

UK-based Simmons Aerofilms, a leading provider of aerial survey, digital mapping and geospatial solutions, has purchased Pictometry’s cutting-edge imaging technology, which incorporates the Applanix POS AV (Position and Orientation System for Airborne Vehicles).

The Applanix POS AV is an integrated turnkey system designed for fast, accurate Direct Georeferencing of aerial imagery and sensor data. The system integrates precision GPS with inertial technology to provide high-accuracy, real-time and post-processed measurements of the imaging sensor’s position and orientation.

Pictometry’s industry-leading software enables users to quickly and easily access up to 12 different high-resolution views of any property, building, highway, landmark, or other feature in an area such as a city, county, province, or state. Pictometry’s software also enables users to obtain measurements directly from the georeferenced imagery as well as insert GIS content and other data. Pictometry’s growing customer list has expanded to over 100 US counties, the State of Massachusetts, and includes a number of major US metropolitan areas such as Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington D.C.
