Applanix today announced that the new POSPAC 3.0 version will be available as of August, 2000

RICHMOND HILL, CANADA - POSPAC 3.0 is a new software support program for the POS AV systems. 

The main features are single GUI for data extraction, GPS post-processing, GPS Inertial Post-Processing and POSEO.

Joe Hutton is the Applanix product manager for airborne applications and was instrumental in the development of the POSPAC 3.0. In making the announcement about the new software, Joe stated: "By developing POSPAC 3.0, Applanix may now offer our product users a new and refined software support that was previously not available. Some of theses new features include enhanced plotting capabilities – especially in the zoom, multiple windows or 3-dimensional role. We have also incorporated enhanced question and answer features, a processing wizard and improved data viewing with the ability to plot in ASCII format."

The really big feature of POSPAC 3 is the potential for multiple base GPS station processing – something that will greatly improve positioning accuracy.

"We’ve worked in some new support for tightly coupled GPS/Inertial processing that includes inertially aided ambiguity resolution and the ability for the inertial data being used to re-establish ambiguities after loss of lock. Another development in this area is that the system can now provide continuous processing of GPS data – even when tracking by only a single satellite. This means that we have the potential to eliminate the previous requirement for flying flat turns (something that was needed to maintain lock on four or more satellites). That translates to shorter turns and should help contribute to lower overall operational costs."
